HealthCheck
The R/KYV HealthCheck is the first and most essential stage in ensuring that the R/KYV system is doing what it is supposed to be doing. Over an intensive 2 day period, an Obsilon consultant will come on site and undertake full system check on software installation and configuration, identifying any areas needing attention and making recommendations on any areas where there are possible improvements
Some of the actions the consultant undertakes are:
Interview system administrators and users
Common issues/faults - Speak to administrators to identify issues that cause them the most amount of time loss and any areas of the system that regularly show a fault
Usability/features – See how users are currently using the system and perhaps suggest alternative ways of working or explain features they don’t know exist
Examine system
Hardware setup - review current hardware specification. Is best use being made of the available hardware configuration.
R/KYV setup – Inspect the current R/KYV configuration to see if system has been installed in most appropriate configuration. Check version, server configuration (application, database, workflow, Iciris etc). Depending on application server used, check Java and Tomcat settings, identify current logging practices. Check housekeeping routines eg see if temporary files are building up.
Software setup – There are numerous ways to configure R/KYV. The HealthCheck will review database and system settings to see if they are appropriate for the current usage of the system.
Security and auditing - Audit current R/KYV security and audit settings. Is the setup appropriate and are the correct actions being audited?
Backup strategy – Review the appropriateness of the current backup strategy.
Integration strategy – Are there other systems that need to be integrated with R/KYV? How best can this be achieved
Future capacity – How can the system be configured to make the best use of the current capacity, and what is the optimum strategy for ensuring that future demands for hardware and software upgrades be minimised or eliminated.
Analyse Training Requirements
Issues – Are all users properly trained in all relevant aspects of the system? Can support calls and downtime be minimised by better or more complete training
Examine Support
Effectiveness – What are the current support arrangements? Are they adequate?
Performance – What are the response times on support? How helpful are the answers to support queries?
Value for money – Does the actual support level offered match the contractual requirements? Is it good value for money for the service provided?
Extra charges – Analyse chargeable support calls (eg on-site and consultancy). Could these have been performed remotely, free of charge?
Legal Analysis
Contract scope – What is the Council currently licenced for?
Performance – Are there potentially areas where there has been non- or under-performance of contractual obligations
At the end of the process, the consultant will spend a further day at Obsilon HQ, analysing the results, and producing a full report on their findings, together with a recommendation of how any deficiencies can be remedied. To the extent that it is practicable in the time available, the consultant will implement any “quick-fixes” during the course of the R/KYV HealthCheck.
This comprehensive assessment costs £1,995 plus VAT and expenses (40% invoiced on order, balance on receipt of report)
